I sequel di Avatar sono stati spostati e si alterneranno a tre nuovi film di Star Wars, ma ieri sera, la Disney ha rivelato il proprio listino fino al 2027. Oltre ai due franchise, la Casa di Topolino ha datato anche altri progetti. Alcuni, subiranno degli slittamenti, mentre altri rimangono confermato.
Sul fronte Marvel, New Mutants, un film degli X-Men girato sotto il regime della Fox, si sta spostando da agosto di quest’anno al 3 aprile 2020. Il progetto horror è stato ritardato più volte in passato ed era originariamente previsto per debuttare in sala il 13 aprile 2018. Le fonti hanno detto che il film ha bisogno di nuove riprese prima di essere distribuito, ed è stato ipotizzato che Disney, guidata da Bob Iger, rinunciasse a una release cinematografica per farlo debuttare sulla piattaforma Disney +. Le notizie di ieri sera suggeriscono che la Disney sta andando avanti con una distribuzione cinematografica.
Nel frattempo, Gambit, un altro film sugli X-Men, è stato rimosso dal calendario. La sua data era il 13 aprile 2020, ma non ci si aspettava che sopravvivesse al passaggio da Fox a Disney. Nonostante abbia avuto a lungo Channing Tatum come protagonista, il progetto ha avuto difficoltà a decollare, con un numero di cineasti che andavano e venivano nel corso degli anni, tra cui Rupert Wyatt, Doug Liman e Gore Verbinski.
Altre modifiche importanti includono Ad Astra, il film di fantascienza di James Gray con protagonista Brad Pitt, originariamente previsto per il 24 maggio. Il film è stato spostato a settembre in una possibile presentazione a festival cinematografici.
Anche l’adattamento della Disney di Artemis Fowl si sta spostando da agosto di quest’anno a maggio 2020, mentre il film d’azione live Crudelia DeMon, con Emma Stone in veste di villain dei 101 dalmata (la carica dei 101), uscirà nel Natale del 2020.
